Some projects just don’t fit a neat description.  The chances are that our industry-tested professionals can help.

Special Projects

Who does that?

Some projects aren't easy to pigeonhole.  Along with our own finance, management, human resource, organizational effectiveness, and accounting professionals, we can provide and/or manage the engineers, attorneys, market researchers, IT professionals and other experts needed to complete just about any project.  Past projects include:

Large projects:

  • Planning for a new food processing plant in northern California, including an assessment of commodity availability, a review of potential markets, preliminary site selection, preliminary engineering design and equipment lists, and financial projections under multiple scenarios.

  • Morrison was brought in to organize the business infrastructure and serve as Interim CFO when a client made a $250 million purchase of disparate units of a large national company.  When the purchase was final we had established basic accounting, human resources, and purchasing functions and helped implement a contract agreement for IT services.

  • Assessment of the marketing, technical, and financial feasibility of a facility to convert food processing waste to fuel-grade ethanol, including appraisals of feedstock and costs, assessment of available technologies and needed innovations, a review of markets, site reviews, preliminary engineering, and financial projections.

Mid-sized and small projects:

  • Conducted an extensive Supply Chain Management survey of food processing firms for a maker of SCM software.

  • Created a cash forecasting model for a garment industry company that deals with offshore manufacturers and major US retail chains.

  • Analyzed commodity prices offered by a major packer for a grower-owned organization.

  • Made a quick evaluation of an offer to purchase an out-of-state processing plant for consideration by our client’s Board of Directors; the offer came shortly before a Board meeting, with no time for a full, formal appraisal of value.

  • Developed an offer price range for a group considering the purchase of a California processing plant.

  • Conducted a preliminary industry assessment to identify potential acquisitions for a foreign company.

  • Completed several projects to develop accounting control procedures.

  • Assessed a long-established processing company’s departmental organization and management structure.

  • Reviewed a manufacturer’s finance and accounting department, including personnel assessments.
